A bathroom is, on paper, the smallest room in the house. In practice, it's the most engineered. Waterproofing, slope-to-drain, vapor barriers, vent stack alignment, electrical clearances, code-driven ventilation. The work nobody sees has to be flawless. The work everybody sees has to read as effortless.

We take bathrooms on as part of larger remodels, additions, and primary suite renovations. The design language and build standard already match the rest of the house. The trades are already on site. The materials and detailing carry through.

(Philosophy)

Standalone bathroom remodels are some of the least profitable, highest-stress projects in residential construction. The trades cycle on and off in days. The dust and disruption are concentrated in a small space. The opportunity to do real design work is limited by the existing plumbing rough-in and the small footprint.

When a bathroom is part of a larger project, none of those problems exist. The trades are already mobilized. The walls are already open. The plumbing is already being rerouted. The bathroom gets the same design discipline as the kitchen and the living room.

That's why we take bathrooms on as part of larger scopes, not as standalone projects.

(Scope)

What we handle.

01 / 04

Primary suites

Bedroom, closet, and bath drawn as a single suite. Sightlines, daylight, circulation, acoustic separation, and material continuity considered together.

02 / 04

Wet-area waterproofing

Slope-to-drain, vapor barriers, substrate prep, and waterproof membrane built to commercial-grade standards. The work nobody sees has to outlast the visible work.

03 / 04

Tile and stonework

Hand-selected slabs and tile. Layout drawn before order, so seams land where they should. Walls, floors, and shower benches detailed as one continuous program.

04 / 04

Fixtures

Brass, nickel, or chrome specified by manufacturer SKU. Waterworks, Kohler, Watermark, Brizo. No substitutions at install.

Elevations doesn't take on standalone bathroom projects. Bathrooms come into scope when we're already remodeling, adding to, or rebuilding the rest of the home.
(Materials & specification)

Specified to the SKU.

Spa-style primary baths typically combine:

The waterproofing detail is the part of the project we care about most, because it's the part that fails first when done badly.

  • Wet room layout with curbless entry, freestanding tub inside the wet room boundary, and a separate water closet
  • Stone walls in book-matched slabs with hand-laid sealant lines
  • Brass plumbing program in unlacquered or living-finish brass, allowed to patina
  • Heated floors under stone tile
  • Linear drains with stone-matched grates
  • Curbless shower entries with reinforced waterproofing
  • Custom vanity in white oak or walnut with stone tops

(Common questions)

Before you call.

  • Will Elevations remodel just a single bathroom?

No. We take bathrooms on as part of larger remodels, primary suite additions, and whole-home projects. Bathroom-only scopes are referred out to firms that specialize in them.

  • Do you handle spa-style shower conversions?

Yes, inside the scope of a larger project. Curbless wet rooms, freestanding tubs inside the shower boundary, brass fixtures, hand-laid stone walls. All part of a typical primary suite or whole-home remodel.

  • How long does a bathroom take inside a larger project?

Eight to twelve weeks of dedicated trade work, typically running concurrent with the rest of the project so it doesn't extend the overall schedule. Tile and stone install drive the timeline.

  • What's the most common reason bathrooms fail in remodels?

Waterproofing detail. The substrate prep, vapor barriers, slope-to-drain, and waterproof membrane all have to be installed in the correct order and tested before tile goes down. Skipped steps don't show up until a year or two after handoff, when they show up as a leak.

  • Do you handle aging-in-place bathroom design?

Yes. Curbless showers, grab-bar reinforcement, wider door clearances, and lever-handle fixtures are part of most primary suite designs we draw today. The detailing reads as design, not as accessibility.
